Herut:
The National Jewish Movement, founded in 1999 as the continuation
of historic Herut led by Menachem Begin, is committed to the teachings
of Ze'ev Jabotinsky. The need for reestablishing Herut arose when
Israel's Likud government implemented the Hebron agreement and agreed
at Wye Plantation to cede parts of Judea and Samaria, to the Palestinian
Authority. Member of Kneset Ze'ev Benjamin Begin, Michael Kleiner
and David Re'em resigned from the Likud and established Herut -
The National Jewish Movement as a political vehicle for continuing
the struggle for Eretz Israel.
Eretz Israel and Peace:
Herut - The National Jewish Movement affirms that Eretz Israel was
given in eternal trust to the Jewish people - past, present and
future - and only they have the right to a sovereign state with
Jerusalem as its eternal capital. No Israeli government, therefore,
can renounce any part of The Land, even in the name of peace. The
policy of "land for peace" upon which the Oslo - Hebron - Wye accords
are based, is dangerous, illusory and, like all policies of appeasement,
guarantees future conflict. The vast majority of Israelis have realized
that not only has Oslo not brought peace, it has unleashed a wave
of Arab terror which continues despite outside efforts. Officially
sponsored anti-Semitic rhetoric and indoctrination and the unbridled
violence emanating from Palestinian-controlled areas demonstrate
that peace with the Arabs of Eretz Israel is not possible for the
foreseeable future.
Herut - The National Jewish Movement
denies that a Palestinian state is inevitable.
In order to prevent its establishment, however, Israel must abandon
her policy of appeasement and convince her allies of the danger
of another terrorist state in the Middle East. In order to ensure
Israel's security in the face of Palestinian Arab terror, she must
regain control over territories given to Arafat, expel him and his
terrorist henchmen and confiscate the weapons the Rabin-Peres governments
gave them. Herut - The National Jewish Movement proposes granting
the Palestinian Arabs limited autonomy as soon as practicable, with
the proviso that security remain in Israeli hands and the media
and education be under Israeli supervision. Simultaneously Herut
- The National Movement will promote Jewish settlement in all of
Eretz Israel, particularly in areas of strategic importance.
The State of Israel:
Israel was created in order to provide self-determination for the
Jewish people. The Jewish character of Israel is, therefore, the
foundation of her existence. The greatest threat to Israel's Jewish
character is demographic. Increasing the birthrate of Israeli Jews
and aliya are a must. In addition, Israel must enact defensive democratic
legislation. In the face of increasing militant Palestinian nationalism
among Israeli Arabs, Herut - The National Jewish Movement proposes
that any citizen who cannot openly declare undivided loyalty to
the Jewish State, identify with the national anthem and wave the
Jewish flag be excluded from exercising his/her right to influence
Israeli policy from within and be given the opportunity to participate
in the democratic process within the framework of the autonomy.
Israel should be Jewish
in content as well as in form. Herut - The National Movement strives
to implant the eternal values of Israel's Torah in the life of the
nation. The government must protect Jewish traditions and revise
school curricula to include more intensive study of Bible, Jewish
practice, Jewish history, Eretz Israel, folklore and culture. In
order to promote national unity, effective measures must be taken
to diminish religious and communal strife. Herut - The National
Jewish Movement seeks to further social justice and human freedom
and encourage dedication to the national welfare by providing financial
benefits to Israelis who have served in the IDF.
World Herut:
The National Jewish Movement works to Foster Jewish unity and strengthen
Jewish morale in the aftermath of the failed Oslo process; Revive
the commitment of Jewish youth to Zionism, Judaism, The Jewish people
and Eretz Israel; Support Jewish settlement in all of Eretz Israel;
Promote aliya. World Herut - The National Jewish Movement has active
branches in the United States, South Africa, Hungary, England, Holland,
Belgium, France, and Venezuela. MK Michael Kleiner is Chairman of
World Herut.
